ALSO, BUY my new series SKYWARD #1 today!

It’s true. Especially with guys without exclusive contracts at the Big two or a comic optioned as films or for television series, most artists rely on things like original art sales or commission work to keep bills paid or mouths fed, roofs over heads, etc etc. So anytime you can buy an original sketch, page, commission, or otherwise from an artist you adore? I implore you to consider it strongly. You guys keep our pencils moving.

I know it’s a preachy way of going about saying it, but maybe if we were more courageous to admit it, we’d sell more work and maybe get a vacation one of these years. Ya never know!

On with the sketches!

I love drawing Ben Grimm of the Fantastic Four. Sometimes I mention that I have three favorite characters– you may have heard me say that before. Well, Captain America, Spider-Man, and this guy here are my top 3. It’s never a bad idea to get one of those guys as a sketch from me, because I love love LOVE drawing them.

Ben here has had some amazing, iconic artists work on him over the years, and from Jack THE KING Kirby (whom I named my dog after, by the way), John Byrne, Arthur Adams, and Mike Wieringo really drove my passion for Ol’ Blue Eyed Benjy since i was a kid. I loved his Marvel Two-in_one series in the 70s and 80s as well– hey, every issue he teamed up with another superhero (many times entire TEAMS of them). I adore that.

Someone give me a series to draw with him in it already. I want it.

Two of my favorite characters in one piece! With Johnny the Human Torch passing away recently, Spidey has filled in temporarily as a team member, so I thought this would be a fun little sketch right around now.
