They didn’t win, but one of my favorite comic shops in all the land– Acme Comics in Greensboro, NC– was nominated for the 2010 Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailing Award! It’s the highest honor a comic shop can get, and Acme has been nominated twice now.
Believe me, it’s well deserved. I’ve been a special guest at the last two Free Comic Book Day events they’ve hosted, and thousands turned out. They run a classy, clean, fun, and open shop, with a selection that simply can’t be beat. They bring in comic creators for numerous appearances and signings, and reach out to the local community in various ways.
Don’t just accept my word as truth– here’s their Eisner nomination video, made by another one of their numerous, numerous fans:

This one’s for Bill Yu, an amazing guy and big G.I. Joe fan– I met Bill at Fan-Expo Canada 2009 in Toronto, I believe. He was extremely enthusiastic about my work and the entire Joe mythos, and we’d often talked about me doing some Real American Hero-related pieces for him. Here’s the latest result! Enjoy, Bill! I’ll have it for ya at SDCC this week.
