It’s got just about everything I want in a page like this– fun establishing shot, great body language and storytelling, cool inking technique, and for a ‘Ringo FF page? Gotta have a cool THING shot. It’s even got his trademark soft-edged Kirbytech.

After seeing Nate’s colors, I wanted a few changes to color selections, so I and Kelly stepped in with Photoshop and added hues we thought suited the character better and added more of the mood I was looking for. It’s nothing against Nate’s work, but I wanted a specific flair to this one.

Here’s one I drew a couple years ago (having issues with my scanner– apologies for the dated sketch post, I’m working on it)  from CARTER KAIN, ROCKET RANGER, a series I wrote for illustrator Nate Lovett, a good buddy of mine. We released an issue on Indyplanet, and the response has been really great! I keep trying to get more Carter Kain comics out there, but scheduling and other commitments have prevented us from finishing the next one, unfortunately.
