It does! Some of the biggest news out of San Diego this year, too– I was there in the panel as they unveiled it. Very exciting stuff.

One of my favorite pieces I’ve done live at a convention– this Magik piece at 11 x 17 inches is right up there among my all-time favorites of my own stuff. It was also the first time I’d ever used Copic markers on a commission before, really– if I remember correctly. The subject matter isn’t something I’m typically known for (I think), but it turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself.

Sooooo tired– oh, welcome back! SKRATCHADAY has returned! We arrived back in Atlanta after MegaCon in Orlando late last night (well, almost 3 am, I guess), and it’s been run run run ever since. That said, we’re exhausted, but thrilled to have had a fun show and we want to thank all of you for making it out and showing us such a great time!
On with the sketches!
I’m the guy that, even as a kid, would tell you the Avengers could kick the JLA’s butts any day… and meant it. I was raised on the Marvel Universe, and really dug the Avengers from the get-go. Thanks to my father being a huge comic geek himself, I was lucky enough to read from issue 4 onward, even at the early age of 5 in the 1980s. I couldn’t get enough! Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Wasp & Hank Pym– it was a fun team dynamic, and brilliant creators like John Buscema, Roy Thomas, John Byrne, George Perez on 3 or four runs (my favorite being his with Kurt Busiek), and so many more made the Avengers mythos tons of fun. Even now with the radically different team with Spidey, Wolverine, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, and Ronin as newer members make it always interesting and fascinating to see change and grow.

There’s not really a coherent schedule I use for writing these– lately, I’ve been only writing one or two ahead of schedule, and sometimes the very morning these are published. I guess that’s better in some ways– it keeps the material fresh. However, I’m the kind of guy that likes lead time so I don’t need to worry about it. Oh, well. Until Megacon, these are all written the night before. Enjoy!
There will be a return of the popular guest-blogging from my wife Kelly Saturday through Monday for KELLYDAYS , since we’ll be at MEGACON in Orlando, FL! She’s got some fun sketches ready for you guys– I’ve seen ‘em, and they’re so “Kelly”.
On with the sketches!
I know, I know– “Didn’t he just draw Deadpool?” Well, yeah. However, I have a few in the stacks over here and I thought this would be a good time for this one, seeing as how the full trailer for CAPTAIN AMERICA was released yesterday… which is also a comic book movie… which kind of relates to this…
Also, Green Bacon Armor? Meh. Still hoping for the best from the Green Lantern film!
