I just walked out of the comic shop yesterday with a hefty stack– many of those nuDCU books. My current favorite of the bunch is Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s BATMAN so far. To think that I’ve never really collected more than 2 DC books for an extended period of time before, this is pretty impressive. I’ve also never read such a mainstream list of books before. Yesterday’s stack had Flash, Batman, Justice League, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Thor, Captain America, and several other comic book icons, as well as several other creator-owned titles that I adore. More on that soon.
On with the sketches!

We. Had. An. EPIC. Show. New York was great to us, and we couldn’t have ended the convention season better. Thanks to all the fans and friends that swung by, bought us drinks, hung out after-hours, or, y’know…
… Invited us to a live taping of Saturday Night Live as a special guest! Anna Faris was hosting, and we had a wonderful time. Even got a backstage pass afterward and saw a bit of how the magic is made every week. Thanks, Scott!

Just like that, another convention season wraps for lil’ ol’ Jeremy Dale. It’s been a long year, and a dozen or so events later, I’ve been all over, from San Diego to Chicago, New York to Kokomo, Charlotte to Baltimore and many more indeed. I’ve had great shows, MEH shows, and shows I don’t think I’ll do again for a while, and learned a lot along the way…
That said, I thought I’d kick off the post-convention SKRATCHADAYs with a slightly altered banner (only because I was tired of seeing the old one), and waking you guys up! Comment more or puppies will continue to suffer in ASPCA commercials. That’s just how it works, folks.
On with the sketch!

Okay, this was my favorite of the pre-show commissions for NYCC last weekend, and I have to admit… the request was “Draw the LEGION’s Light Lass from DC’s Legion Threeboot”. I kind of went overboard on this one, didn’t I? I can’t help it. I had an entirely different backdrop all planned out and drawn in the preliminary stage for the Legion’s Lady of Lightning, but when I think Legion, I think… well, A MILLION ZILLION TEENAGE SUPER-HEROES.
So that’s how we got here. I just reread the Shooter/Manapul run on the book, and it’s still some fun, fun comics– don’t get bogged down by the drama llamas on the interweb talking trash about it (I’m looking at YOU, Shooter).

I could really go for another round of Wednesday Comics. How far off are we talking, Chiarello? Hurry it up!

This is an image I’m getting colored for the Kokomo Humane Society, who just received (I believe) a hundred puppies that desperately need care and funds to do so. All the proceeds of the sale of this print (once colored, of course) will go straight to them.

At the behest of a few guys at Dragon*Con last weekend (looking at you, Shane and Andrew), I’m posting this quick Batman sketch I did one morning. They happened to see it, and asked if it was going to be a future Skratchaday…
Well… Okay. Sure.
Enjoy!
