ABSOLUTE ZEROES CREATORS: BEN ROLLMAN
Q: Okay, introduce yourself. Who are ya-- age, location, what do you do?
Ben Rollman: I'm Ben Rollman. I'm a network administrator working for Texas Medical Association. I'm 33 and I have a lovely wife and two wonderful kids. I'm a Colorado native/Texas transplant.
Q: What are you working on currently?
BR: Currently I'm wrapping up a couple things with Stephen Offenheim's Awesome Storm Justice webcomic. I'm doing a couple lettering gigs, one with Herostreet (no relation) that should be coming out through Diamond soon. I'm also an artistic editor for the Penciljack Universe webcomic. When all this is moving slower I'll go back to work on my book; Project: Gemini.
Q: Where can we pick up these books?
BR: If you mean my books, just email me and I'll send you details. I have a couple dozen hardcopies left and would gladly sell them to people. If you mean Heroforge books, talk to Jeremy. ;-)
W: What's your dream gig-- the one job you want to do over anything else?
BR: If I had my druthers and if the pay was where I could afford to support my family, I'd love to take a crack at doing the Silver Surfer, both writing and drawing. I think he's a wonderful character that no one since Lim/Starlin has given any justice. But, I'd also like to have time to tell my own stories, so my dream job would be to earn a living doing Project: Gemini or another sci-fi comic.
Q: Hitting any conventions this year?
BR: Not this year. I went last year to Chicago and didn't have a great time, so I'm off big cons for a while. At least until traveling sans little kids is easier to setup and I have more work to show or I'm part of a bigger group with lots of books and creators. Being a solo creator at a big con is a lonely prospect and I won't do it again. I may do some local cons when I get P:G #2 done.
