Baroness, Stormshadow, and Firefly

Dragon and Mr. Glum from Savage Dragon

'Hero' owned by David Hammond

White Witch from the Legion
Here’s another four commissions– the Cobra one I’m fairly pleased with, definitely. I always enjoy illustrating the Cobra-aligned characters in the G.I. Joe universe, and this commission was a breath of fresh air in that it wasn’t just another ninja piece. Always fun!
I won’t lie– Savage Dragon is one of my favorite comics currently being published. Erik Larsen’s work on that book is inspiring to see unfold, and so far this year he’s put out 15 issues! Crazy. I’d love to do a creator-owned book at Image one of these days… here’s hoping! That’d be very cool.
Hero is a creator-owned character I was requested to render. I had a heck of a time working out how to draw his helmet, but in the end it turned out pretty strong, I think. Fun fun.
White Witch is from the LEGION books DC Comics puts out, and the reference I found for her online was fascinating– I’d never seen that before! The eye tendril thing is kinda creepy in some ways. I’ve been playing catch-up on all matters Legion, I’m afraid– although it’s one of the top requests I get for convention sketches and commissions, I never really investigated the series myself until fairly recently. The Jim Shooter/ Francis Manapul run was simply GORGEOUS, and I really wanted to see where it was headed. Too bad it got cut out behind the scenes towards the end of their run. :/
Enjoy!

Ultimate Spider-Man commission

Homage to Amazing Spider-Man #39
Thought I’d share some of the many, many commissions I’ve been working on lately. Here’s two Ultimate Spider-Man pieces and a Nova.
Spidey is always a fun subject– he’s one of my favorite characters. Here in particular he’s represented by his younger, teenage, Ultimate Comics-self… which I’m pretty sure shows pretty glaringly from the unmasked pic there. Fun fun!
Nova is another one of those Marvel characters I’d love a crack at someday. I discovered Nova only a few years after I came into comics, and I loved his overall look and mood in the old series– and even enjoyed where they started taking him in New Warriors when it debuted, although minus the “KID” moniker they tossed on him originally.
Anyway, enjoy!

Official Press Release
Dial “C” For Comics is proud to announce that its upcoming graphic novel, MISERABLE DASTARDS™, has just been optioned by feature film producers Mike Greene and Brian Murphy (2001 Maniacs: The Sequel, San Saba, Labou) and is also being produced by Jason Kim of Lovett Management.
Written and created by Richard A. Hamilton, MISERABLE DASTARDS follows three henchmen-for-hire – or Dastards – who crew for Philadelphia’s most notorious (and inept) super-criminals. All these thugs want is to pay their mortgages and put their kids through college. But after suffering one humiliating defeat too many, the Dastards decide to stop taking orders and start scheming their own criminal capers.
The action/comedy heist tale, illustrated by Harvey Award-winner Jeremy Dale, has already earned sterling reviews from Ain’t It Cool News, declaring it “something new and exciting… it’s a damn good comic that will keep you guessing and smiling long after you’ve put it down.”
“The fact that Mike and Brian see something special in our henchmen with a heart is extremely validating,” says Richard A. Hamilton. “Beneath the matching crook costumes and gloved punches to the face, ‘Dastards’ is really about three average joes with a not-so-average vocation. If you’re a fan of the anonymous thugs from the 60s Batman TV show or if you’ve ever had a job that sucked, this is the story for you!”
MISERABLE DASTARDS is currently available in the July 2009 Previews Catalog as a “Spotlight” and “Certified Cool” item. The 96 page, full-color graphic novel retails for $9.99 and will debut at the San Diego Comic-Con on Preview Night, July 22, 2009.
